The pattern for the instructional year calendar for the last ten years has been: First day of School is the first Wednesday in August, Fall Break is the week after the second Sunday in October (which lines up with the week after the County Fair), Christmas Break is the two weeks that include both Christmas and New Years returning on Monday, and Spring Break is the week that includes St. Patrick's Day. We take a day off for Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and President's Day. We take the day off for Veteran's Day when it falls on a school day, and we take the Monday after Easter off when Veteran's Day falls on a non-school day. We take the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off along with Thanksgiving. Lastly, we hold school for 144 days, and when we're done, we are done. This isn't a guarantee of future calendars because they must be approved by the District Governing Board. It is the pattern we have followed consistently for many years.
